1977 Collaro changer

Hi all,

I recently made an eBay purchase of a very nice, very late model Collaro record changer, which I have been told is a Collaro PH1252 or PH1253 (thanks, Record-Changer!), sold as a "component" turntable at the end of the Collaro/Magnavox line. The packing carton says it is from Magnavox Electronics Limited, in Essex, England. The baseplate label gives a model number 640/04/C, and the production code indicates it was built in mid 1977. It has a 4-pole motor, aftermarket magnetic cartridge (Tenoral 2001D), cueing lever, and anti-skating. I do need to clean and re-lube it before I can make it run... it's been sitting for a long time. Can anyone give me a lead on a service manual for this unit? North American Philips was polite, but not helpful, and I can't recognize this unit in any of Howard Sams' offerings.

Except for the tonearm, spindle, and platter, this is the same as all post-1967 Magnavox micromatic changers. The main differences are the tonearm (with better pivots, antiskate, and counterweight), the platter is heavy and balanced, and the spindle is removable (turn 1/4 turn to lock and unlock). Try a Magnavox M-620 Sams.
