New Seeburg LS1

by RocketReducer62 » Fri Apr 29, 2011 1:55 am

Hello,
I just bought an LS1 at an estate sale. It's in pretty good shape and generally works well. Other than some minor cosmetic issues (mostly because it came from a chain-smoking household) it needs a stylus and the "selection playing" lights don't function. I've ordered replacement needles, the manual and parts list and I have an engineering background so you can trust me not to pound on anything with a hammer, if you know what I mean.
What I'd like to know is what are the most common mechanical/electrical failures and malfunctions to watch out for? Then, what preventive maintenance would you experienced guys perform first on a functioning but neglected machine?
Thanks,
Douglas

Douglas,
That model is relatively trouble free--It does require oil, and the one thing it has a problem with is, deteriorating "foam"rubber seals getting into things where it should not be--such as he TES. I suggest that you should purchase the Service Manual package, for that model, sold by a "legit" seller, such as www.alwaysjukin.com and others--and I would humbly suggest that my "Seeburg Mechanism Guide" would be of help also. It is available directly from me. Contact me off list at: ronnnrich@yahoo.com ,if you would like a copy-- Ron Rich

If I remember correctly, doesn't this model have a fluorescent lamp ballast located above the amplifier?
