Seeburg Olympian don´t start

by rk05979 » Sun Oct 27, 2013 1:41 pm

My seeburg olympian, will not start after making a selection
but when I use the "scan mechanism" button the right selecion is made and the record is playing. Now its possible to make multiple selections.
After playing all selections the mechanisn goes to resting position, and will not start again when I make a new selection

I would suggest that a copy of my "MicroLog trouble shooting guide", would help in trouble shooting this problem. (PM me if you wish to purchase one). However, for the time being the circuit on a SPS-160 is shown in the service manual. If you follow it, you will find that it "circles around", from the DRD thru the service switch ( the "usual suspect" in this case) to the 311143 scan control board in the DCC.

Hi Roland,
Thanks for buying the book !
Check the DCC notes, and check the .22/50vdc cap connections--they tend to be broken on the foil, if an early version of the 311143 scan board.

P.S. If you have the first printing of that trouble shooting guide (copyright date 2002), and you did not get the "errata sheet", dated (at the bottom) 9/08, PM me with your email address, and I'll send you a copy.
There were some changes made to the DCC section--

Yes

I´m lucky to have a friend , who is the owner of a Seeburg Entertainer
I´ve cross checked: Digital controllcenter. grey & black boxes. and key pad
Still the box won´t start
the scan switch is working

The next step is to check the wiring loom????

Hi Rowland,
I'm not sure what's going on with this tread--it's showing up "odd" here ?
Anyway, when you say "the service switch is OK", are you speaking of the "selection pass" switch, located by the left door lock. If not, that's what you need to check. It must be in the "NO" position, and when in that position, the NC contacts must be "making good contact". The other thing you might check is pin #15 on the smaller DRD plug. Be sure it still has "tension" on it.

For some reason, there was a "+" character typed at the very bottom of the post, probably by accident. I deleted it and the blank space that appeared was also deleted.
