Newbie with Rockola 490-1

Novice with a Rockola 490-1. When I power up my unit, it goes to the Normal Operation stage as described in the operating manual. However, I can't load the record magazine or activate any service modes. Any ideas on how to proceed or what to look for? Thanks

I'm not quite sure, what you are asking---?
Can/do you have credits established ?
If so, is the keyboard responding ?
What "service modes"--how, are you attempting to "activate" them ?
