OK,
I took the back off and along with about 2 dozen spider balls, I found the following:
pristine styrofoam speaker enclosures
turntable mechanism in excellent condition
speaker enclosures loaded with horns and 12" driver (maybe 10", forgot to measure)
wimpy high pass filter
I did not open the speaker enclosures; the factory seals were fully intact. Besides, all speakers were working properly. The amplifier and the high pass network both sound very tired. However, the tuner works well and the turntable spins and all turntable functions are working properly. I could not test the stylus or verify that the signal is being processed properly because I have no vinyl (record collection stolen many years ago).
I did hook up a cassette deck and a cheap equalizer - that, coupled with the receiver tone controls, created a pleasing, musical reproduction. Short story, she passed and the speakers sound good!
Any suggestions/experience on how to proceed with updating/upgrading the receiver and the high pass networks would be most welcome. Also, I have very little experience with turntables. I need suggestions on cartridges or stylii (sp?) for the tonearm.

A couple of questions:
On the stickers are what appear to be part numbers. Does a comprehensive list of these numbers exist and do they identify the speakers?
The turntable tag says Made in England. What does that signify about the TT?
Thanks for looking.
