I recently moved some furniture for an elderly gentleman and he gave me a Zenith Stereophonic High Fidelity Phonograph with AM-FM Tuner. The model # is RM2601. Can anybody tell me how old it is or where I need to look to find out? The console is in excellant condition. The radio sounds great. I have not played the phonograph, no records. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Zenith was one of the many brands that the Voice of Music (V-M) supplied record changers for. There is a website that you can visit, and they have information on how to tell when a particular (V-M) changer was made (http://www.thevoiceofmusic.com). All V-M changers had a date code and series stamped on the underside of the motorboard. I have a Zenith console, model MM2607, that I was able to figure out was made the 40th week of 1964. Hope this helps.

Ed, the SAMS Photofact 739-11 for your set is dated Feb 1965. So your Zenith Console could have been produced in 1964...or later depends on production run. According to the SAMS data your record changer is similiar to V-M 1265. The tubes in your set are not expensive ones and available. But it sounds like you are set to go.
