Inherited Sonora Phonograph

Hello all,

I'm new to this site and have to admit I know next to nothing about vintage phonographs. This weekend I inherited my grandparents phonograph and was wondering if any of you experts out there might know anything about it. I believe it to be a Sonora Troubadour circa 1920 maybe, but that is the extent of my research so far. It's also pretty dusty and could use a cleaning. Would Murphy's Oil Soap be safe to use on it? Included are some pictures.

Thanks in advance!
Kim

Very Cool. I am a new collector of Sonora's Having gotten my first in Jan 2013 It is a 1920 Nocturn model. As far as i know these seem pretty easy to work on and clean up. The finish on mine is terrible. Looks like it was baked in the sun for 50-60 years. The murphys should be fine, just try it on a small spot in the back first. That Troubadour looks really nice as well. Enjoy it.

Wow that's beautiful. Did you inherit any of their 78s? I hope you can catch a glimpse of them by listening the records they probably enjoyed.
