Replacing Rock-ola cartridge

by rbeard » Thu Jan 24, 2013 9:29 pm

Hi, newbie here!

I have Rock-ola 418 and I'm replacing old dried Elac kst-103 to p-132d.

I noticed there are 330kohm resistors in both channels, new cartridge sounds like theres much less bass in it. Could I somehow recalculate resistors to match new cartridge or should I remove resistors completely?

Second question is about hum with new cartridge, would some absorbing material between cart and tonearm help? I've replaced all caps in amp and it's fine.

Many thanks,
rbeard

Tha Phanstiehl P-132 likes to see at least 470K-1 meg across it's outputs.
With 2 meg or more, it'll be "bass-heavy".
The Internet is a marvelous thing, however it's not a good substitute for actually being there.
