Oh boy, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but, I know what is happening now. The shaft that this arm pivots on has lube that has turned to molasses it should require no real force to to snap back when released. I had this same problem on a 2300 that i bought in April 1994. On that machine I was able to get it working with the application of a lot of heat to boil the old oil and by bending the arms with the stop screws slightly up so that I could rotate the crank thoroughly while applying the heat and some new oil.

The mech has already been partially broken down for the washing, but I really wanted to avoid taking the entire shaft and cam assembly apart.

This is a big job.

Hi Guys,
I was thinking along the lines of "lubrication" too. I have seen problem once, years ago. A WurliTzer that was "gummed up" that badly--I was able to work 20 wt. ND oil into it ---but it took me a long time to get it to where it started to function correctly--once operating OK, I went back and re-oiled it for a couple of weeks--seemed fine, after that. Pretty sure I saturated it with a liquid, non pressurized, penetrating oil, first --Ron Rich

Hi
Here is the youtube link I got someone to upload of the selection process I mentioned and how the crank arm jumps back from the selection pin

Hi Clones,
What would happen if you turned off the motor after the record loaded, and pushed the crank arm to the left (with your right hand) ? Will it advance beyond the one, it just locked down ? Ron 'Rich

The video seems to confirm the diagnosis of old, gummy oil. The crank should advance just beyond the pin that has been reset, but not far enough to interfere with the operation of the following pin. The idea is so that it will not play the same selection again until it has made a complete scan and played all others.

There is a cylindrical "something" in the middle of the crank assembly that I don't recall seeing on the machines I owned. this may be some variant in the European version...or just faulty memory on my part.

Hi
I turned off the motor after the record had loaded and pushed the crank arm to the left, it goes about 3mm beyond the pin that was selected, Haven't tried the heat gun yet but will try some good penetrating oil first and try and work it in
