The Markel record changer was available with the Pfanstiehl "Pfan-Tone" strain-sensitive pickup. This pickup plugs into the tone arm. Two pickups were supplied; one for 78 rpm records and one for LP records. One cartridge is red and the other is green.
Does anyone know which color is which type? L. Hunter

The speed selector is supposed to be marked with the same color. The dial on one I have color photos of shows black for 78 and red for microgroove.

Black cartridge? Hmm, could have sworn they were red and green. Dug out my box 'o cartridges, and yep; red and BLACK. You are absolutely correct, the speed change selector is red for microgrove, and black for 78s. So much for my good memory. Now I can crank up this old changer with the right stylus. Thanks for the comment.
I worked for a Magnavox dealer in the 50's and 60's. Repaired hundreds of Collaro and VM changers. When the record companies started putting pop music on cassette tape, the record player business went from 60 to zero in about 10 seconds. Eventually, the whole inventory of idler wheels (we stocked the full GC? line) went in the hopper. Ditto with all the needles and cartridges. I still have a few Collaro parts and probably the early Magnavox service manuals.
