I had at one point, like 5 years ago, posted in the forums about a problem with my Rockola 460. Well, that problem hasn't been a huge issue during the last 5 years, but it is acting up again lately.

When I make a selection, it sometimes takes a VERY Long time to complete. So long, that I have to open the lid, and "help" or "push" on what I am going to call the "selection arm" to make it continue the spin and complete the selection. This "arm" that I am speaking of is directly to the right of the actual record, and has two "heads" on it, on the left side, and one on the right side.

I am thinking it is probably a lubrication issue, but I thought it might be an adjustment to be made somewhere... If it is a lubrication issue, what would be you recommend I use to fix the problem, and exactly where would the lubrication need to be done?

Hi Lucas,
First,I would caution you that "pushing" will strip gears !!
That is called the "write in carriage"--clean-remove any old "grease" that's on the tracks, where the plastic slides on the metal--then, using a cloth saturated with food grade silicone spray, wipe the "tracks".
You will then need to remove the write in motor-- Oil it with 20 wt ND oil, getting the oil on both sides of the armature shaft--and, if so equipped, into the felt pads. Another caution here--do NOT dis-assemble the motor !
If this still fails, contact the motor maker--I believe they offer a very reasonable priced rebuild---

What would u recommend cleaning the area where the plastic meets the metal?

When you reference food grade silicon spray I am nit exactly sure what u mean. Are u talking about a basic non stick cooking spray?

Anything that will do the job--I usually use a water based cleaner on a rag, and wipe it clean ( might as well do the same thing to the other side--the read-out carriage--)
Food grade silicone spray is available, commercially, in many places--just need to search for it--NOT the "cooking stuff"--
