Rockola Amplifier 41056-1-A

by clones » Tue Apr 02, 2013 12:29 pm

Hi
I am recapping the rockola 41056-1-A amplifier, there is a capacitor labelled as an Alumalytic dry capacitor (300MFD, 50 volts, surge 75 volts), can a regular electrolytic cap one be substituted for this one. Out of interest why were these types used, i think i have seen them before in the rockola control boxes

Basically, for all intents and purposes, an electolytic is an electrolytic.
The Internet is a marvelous thing, however it's not a good substitute for actually being there.

Hi Clones,
I may not be correct, but it runs in my feeble mind that the word "Alumalytic", was a trade-marked name used by GE. Check the original for a brand name--
