NSM CD Changer problems

by Jimmler » Mon Jan 21, 2013 6:24 pm

Greetings,

Long time reader, first time poster. I have an NSM Galaxy CD 100 jukebox that I recently dragged home. It had a few problems, but I've been slowly working thru everything.

The biggest issue now is its ability to reliably grab a cd from either cassette and load it. The grippers and mechanism appear to be well lubed. The mechanisms work without binding if I move the belts manually. It seems like the motors don't have enough torque to extract the cd holder from the cassette. I did check the clutches and they were kind of greasy. I figured maybe they were slipping prematurely, but with everything cleaned off and dry, I still have the problem.

Then I checked the voltage on the motors while they were running, thinking maybe the driver chip was not up to snuff, but everything appears to be ok there, too.

Any NSM techs out there that might know what's actually causing me all this grief? Thanks for any ideas!

-Jim
