rockola 460 credit unit

by greenmustangman » Tue Mar 12, 2013 3:34 pm

Hi everyone!! I am new to this site!! I have a Rock Ola 460 jukebox from 1975. I have an issue with it that just started happening. The credit switch no longer works,as i have been using it because the coin unit does not work. Is there any way to bypass the coin unit and the credit unit so that it will just play selections continually? Any help is appreciated,as I'm not sure what is wrong,or what i need to do to repair it.

Many thanks!!
Phil

Hello Phil,

Welcome to the forum, I do not work on Rock Ola but someone may be able to help you.

Can you go into your profile and fill in your location (country) this may help us to suggest a suitable repair engineer or where to get spare parts.

Regards
Alan

Phil,
Welcome--like Alan said--please go into your profile and insert "Philly PA"--
In order to answer your question, I need more info, as I do not know model differences on RockOla's.
Is this a mechanical pricing unit, or an electronic one ?
What do you mean by "the credit switch"--the "coin unit" ?
Using the terms in the manual would help greatly --

Hello Phil/Ron,

The Rock Ola 460 is a 160 selection jukebox made in 1975 it will more than likely be an electronic credit unit. I did work on these at the time but have not touched one since the mid to late 70's.

That is correct!! It is an electronic credit unit.I would like to find out if a jumper can be installed to bypass the unit and the coin changer
Thanks,
Phil!!

Phil,
It would be my guess--probably, yes--however I am not familiar with the unit, and would need to dig out the schematic---
One would also need to ascertain, that if by doing so, something else can be damaged !

Phil,
If you do not have the Service Manual/schematics, package, see "announcements--where to find" above.

Hi Phil

If the credit unit is indeed the electronic version. Then there should be a large 40pin LSI
chip on the circuit board.

If this is the case then there should be a relay soldered on the circuit board in the bottom corner.
It may be marked K1

It has two sets of normally open contacts.
1 set operates the "Select any single" lamp.
the other activates the selection system.

Bridging both sets (make sure you identify each pair correctly) should override the credit system completely.
and give you a freeplay mode. The lamp will be lit all the time though

Get yourself the service manual you will find it useful.

Pete
