Seeburg V On A Fling

Got the Seeburg V going and it is working well (don't let it hear me say that, I haven't completed testing all 200 selections yet). There is one record selection that does have a problem. The transfer arm must hang up on the record rack as the transfer to the turntable begins and then it overcomes the obstacle. This results in the record, sometimes, suddenly being launched past the turntable and out of the machine (if the dome glass is up). I am concerned because when the opposite side of the record is selected it, so far, does not have the "flying record" problem. The edge of the record left a mark on me, imagine that, attacked by the Shirrelles after all these years of enjoying their music.

There must be a slight problem with that particular slot in the record rack. It appears there is a rub mark near the bottom of the slot but nothing bent. I'll get a good look when it is daylight. I noticed, when cleaning/lubing the mechanism, the end of the transfer arm does not have the helpful little centering bearing that all my fifties Seeburgs do. It appears to be a different design but I'll need to look more closely.

Did Seeburg take the little bearing away? Perhaps it is because of the narrow slots in a 200 select record rack? The picture in my V manual still has a bearing but I imagine Seeburg just did not revise earlier drawings.

Yes--that lift arm end, was revised at least 4 times--last one had an all "plastic" tip--and, IMHO, it was the best--Don't recall what the V's had--
Check clutch adjustment # 3 for that problem, if the rack is not the problem----be SURE the clutch area is correctly oiled first--

Thanks Ron!! Problem solved!! My "not so great skills" must have caused me to do a lousy job on oiling the clutch! Working good now! Thank!!
