Packard Bell radio

by zereen » Mon Dec 30, 2013 5:54 am

My name is Kimberly. Basically I need help fixing my grandfathers old record player. He passed away last January and the record player really means a lot to me. Sadly i don't even know how it works. First off the only model # I could find on it is 18hf 3 (no matches on the internet), the turntable doesn't have a label on it that I could find and the turntable would spin for a min then stop. The FM radio and speakers work well but as soon as my father left after bringing it over it stopped turning on. I have tried calling about 5 repair stores and no one deals with this old of a stereo :(

1. I need to find out why the power is wonky
2. how to take apart and clean the turntable
3. how to actually use a record player.

I have pictures but im unable to upload them. I would appreciate any help. Also my grandfather bought it feb. 6th 1970

Hi Kimberly:

The instructions for posting an image appear in this post, which is located in the announcements section of every forum --

If you haven't tried it, get in touch with Oklahoma Vintage Radio Collectors -- http://www.okvrc.org/ Their area of interest seems to be concentrated more on the antique radios manufactured during the 1920s/30s/40s, but they may know of some repairmen in the area who work on 1960s/1970s models.
