Nonworking Rockola 2000X for $100.Buy or pass?

by jcfitz » Fri Jun 07, 2013 4:38 am

I was recently offered a nonworking Rockola 2000X for $100. He says make him an offer he just wants it out of his garage.

He says when it was working it would play the cds 3/4 of the way through, not the full cd.

If I buy it I don't want to keep it. I'm just not into cd jukeboxes, I want something I can fix and sell for a profit. Is it worth it or is it too old of cd technology to fool with?

Also since it's over 100 miles away it's gonna cost me a tank of gas for $70 or $80.

IMO

Short answer - YES, it's worth it.

Long answer - cleaned and fixed it would be worth $500. minimum. If you don't want to fix it, you could "break" it and sell the parts on eBay - perhaps not getting $500, but you would still see a profit.

The only down-side with both options is time. Jukeboxes and parts can take a while to sell.

Make sure it's "complete" before you buy it, and if he said he would take an offer, why not try to get it for $50?

Keith
