seeburg MRA1-l6 questions

by mb9513 » Fri Feb 06, 2015 7:06 am

Hi all: Just a few questions about the 100A amp. we just got the juke and the receiver is junk, the amp though may be salvageable. I have checked the secondary's on the power amp, and get 32 ohms on either side of the tap to the 5U4 tube. 65 ohms directly from one side to the other.
The other area I was told to check what the choke, I believe it is what looks like a small transformer but with only 2 leads. It checks out at 300 ohms.
Are these readings ok? if so, then we can proceed with the recap on it, and get it going.
someone else had suggested values way far off from these.
Thanks in advance. Mark

Hi Mark,
I do not recall ever measuring the transformer, but IMHO, those readings are OK--One quick way to double check--look at the fuse--is it still good, right size, and original ( paper label stuck to it)--If so, my guess is the transformer is OK--as for the choke, going from my great, but not too long memory, sounds fine-- replacement chokes are available, if needed.
