RCA Victor Red Seal Deluxe series

by wingnut049 » Mon Mar 04, 2013 3:35 pm

Does anyone know about the 78 rpm Red Seal Deluxe 78 rpm red vinyl series? I was under the impression that there were only 4 albums in the series. DV-1 thru DV-4. I just found DV-11 on Ebay. Were there eleven or more albums in the series? I've tried to Google it but there is no information. Thanks.

There was a detailed article profiling the series:

"The Red Seal De Luxe Series: A Discography of RCA's Red Vinyl 78s" by Richard A Kaplan and James H. North.

Here's the information from http://connection.ebscohost.com/c/artic ... -vinyl-78s

ABSTRACT
RCA Victor's red vinyl 78s represents a fascinating episode in the history of classical record production. This article provides a discography of the "Red Seal De Luxe" series (record numbers 18-0000 through 18-0236 and sets V/DV-1 through 30), issued from 1945 to 1949. Many of these records pose discographic questions that have never been addressed; the authors probe beyond the standard original sources to do so.

So, apparently 30 sets were issued.
