RCA Radiola B50

I have just acquired the old RCA Radiola B50, battery operated radio from my childhood days. My family used to sit around this old radio in the evenings and listen to stories, news, etc, before going to bed. We did not have electricty back in those days and this old radio provided many hours of entertainment.

I want the pleasure of restoring it to playing condition. It has not been canabalized, but has set for many years unattended. My thoughts are to re-cap it, replace the tubes and provide power through a converter, rather than the original battery power. I can remember my father buying the new battery for the radio. It would come in a box that was shaped like a truck, with a handle on the top. He would take the battery from the box and give the box to me to play with, or, if it stayed in the box, I got the old one from the radio as a toy - too many years to remember, but I do remember the box. Unfortunately, I have no idea of the battery voltage that was used.

Anyway, my questions are-
Can someone direct me to a site where I can find the parts, manuals, etc that I need?
Secondly, can anyone tell me the battery voltage that was used to power this set, so I can get the correct converter?
Thirdly, can someone recommend a converter that would work for this conversion.

I realize the old radio is not worth much money, but it is a worth a lot to me. I want to try to restore it myself.

Thanks for any help.

There are lots of places to find parts. Contact www.west-techservices.com and they may be able to help. Also you can buy what is called a battery eliminator made by a company called Arbe. It operates on 120VAC and has terminals to connect your battery radio to. They run about $125, but well worth it.
