OK so I recently attended an estate sale, they had a 1956 Wurlitzer MDL-2000
They wanted $3500. A sign on it said it worked.
I asked what happened if it did not sell, and was told it would go to the highest
Bidder. So I placed a bid for a lot less and I got the call yesterday .
I picked it up this morning, got it home and plugged in.
It lights up and the hub spins but that's it.
I didn't have any time to mess with it.my son and I were heading to the hills
To do some snowmobiling for a few days.so when I get back in town
Wednesday I'll dig into it !!
I do have a question though, I had read that the model 2000
Had a animated menu board.mine has a serrated stationary unit.?
Others I've seen have a rounded menu board.is this original ?
sorry ,,this is all fairly new to me !

"Someone" has replaced the title board, with an aftermarket type. Original had "flip pages" on both ends of the title board.

What did you have to give for it if you don't mind me asking?

You can replace the big title board with the reproduction one from victory glass for around 3200 bucks delivered. They cost big money but would return the machine to its former glory.

In any event, since this box has had previous work done - you won't know the real status of its condition overall.
it's obviously been "messed with" from reading the posts.
Being on the safe side of things, I would go over it with the service manual thoroughly, before even plugging it in. - IF - you value it, and intend to keep it in a safe and proper operating condition.
I cannot stress this enough - and I'm well aware of people becoming "in a hurry" to "see if it works".
Aged electronics such as this can be severely damaged through unaware individuals simply not knowing that in moments, a severe and costly expense can be caused by just powering up said unit.
There is no "guessing" or "maybe's" in this field - ya gotta make absolutely sure.
If in doubt, or not having the expertise in determining an intelligent conclusion of the operating condition of a unit, then the next best step is to aquire the services of someone who is capable, and reputable to perform proper service.
The peace of mind later on is worth the effort.
Ron Rich out in the San Francisco area is one of the guru masters ( among others) of jukeboxes in my honest opinion.
However, the man cannot easily travel out to the ends of the earth to perform his magic on these poor boxes.
Bottom line: don't guess, be sure - or your investment can easily wind up to be a heap of pretty junk, sitting in a corner "for looks"

Guys,
The model 2000 WurliTzer is "unique" in that it was their first 200 selection design. No other model uses that mechanism, as they "refined it" drastically for the next model. Like any other electrical item, the first thing I would do prior to plugging it in, would be to check "cords" and fuses, for the proper size and type.
BTW--Thanks, Matt--I am not sure I even no'ed how to spelt "guru master", before--
Merry Christmas to ALL !

A check of Victory Glass shows the entie animated title board is available for $2,850.00 plus shipping, which is probably more than what you paid for the unit. However, if you want it as original as possible and can afford it, it would certainly increase the value of the unit to a collector. A properly restored unit could sell for around $8,000.00!
Best

Thanks for all the great information!
I don't mind saying I'm $1500. Into it
I actually got her working, just not In the correct orders !
Upon oiling as many parts as possible and fiddling with stuff
She will pick a record and play it .
Over and over and over !!
I think the coin op unit is not working.
I need to push the button in front behind control panel
Then selection to pick disk ?
I ordered a manual, and will probably wait till it arrives to mess with it
Too much more.
