Wurlitzer 3600 Super Star Help/Advice Needed

I purchased a Wurlitzer 3600 Super Star jukebox about 6 months ago and it worked perfectly fine. The other day while listening to the jukebox I pushed the button on the back of the jukebox to manually change records and when I did the machine stopped. The arm picked the record up to put it back in the tray and it stopped before the record was placed all the way back in tray. I would appreciate any ideas from anyone as to where to begin to troubleshoot my jukebox. I have a service - parts - trouble shooting manual but I can't seem to find anything that might help. Any help would be greatly appreciated.... Joe

Try pushing and holding that reject button for a few seconds--if that does not help--check circuit breakers-- Ron Rich

Ron...thank you for some areas to check out. I tried holding down the eject button for a few seconds and nothing changed. There are 3 circuit breakers in a row. The first one I pushed and there were a clicking sound. Then I pushed the other 2 and there were nothing when I pushed those. No clicking noise or anything. I checked the fuse and it is good. Thank you again for your ideas. Joe

Joe,
Can you reach either read-out switch ? If so, CAREFULLY push it into the closed position. Hold it while the gripper arm picks up the record ( hopefully ) until the cancel coil on the read out arm fires--You should then be "back in sequence". Ron Rich

Ron, my 3600 mech seems to be doing (or not doing) the same thing. It will go through the selection process and the pin selects, but the carrier won't rotate. I tried holding the readout switch closed, but nothing happens. I've tried all of the reset buttons too. The juke is making a low pitch hum, which I can't determine where it's coming from. I guess a switch is open somewhere? When I manually put the mech in the load position, the hum stops, but when it is in either Run or Scan position, the hum returns. The record carrier arm is locked on one record in the magazine, which I can free manually, but it's not stopped in the "home" position. I have a 3600 manual and have checked several of the trouble-shooting steps that they suggest. Any ideas?

Bill,
I do not have very much experience with those--
Sounds as if the gripper motor is stalled--why, is the question, I have no answer for--
Gripper MUST release the record, and at the same time, move out of the way of the records, at which time it closes the "safety switch" allowing the basket to turn--

No problem Ron. I think I figured out the main problem. The pin that runs through the transfer arm has jumped the levers that control the scan. I just need to determine the best way to get the pin back in place, so it will do its job. Thanks for responding though.

I got this fixed. It was, in fact, the pin that goes through the transfer arm jumping out from underneath the two levers that control the safety switch operation. I had to have another person hold the pin back (against spring tension) and press the lever over to the left far enough to get the pin situated back in place. Hopefully, this is the same issue that the originator of this thread is experiencing. Sorry for hijacking the thread, but the symptoms were very similar in both cases. If you haven't solved your issue, I may be able to assist with pics. Just let me know.

Thanks

Thank you Jukinbill.... I haven't had a chance to check mine out. Been out of town for several weeks and hoping to be able to tinker with it when I get home. It does sound like we both have the same issue. I would welcome and hints or pics if its no trouble for you. Thanks, tbjoe

My machine is a 7500, but it uses all of the internal components that the 3600 uses. I'll try to snap some pics for you this evening and get those to you, so you can check yours out.

One word of caution. When I got the pin back into place, there must have been something that had to snap back into place when it was transferring the first record in this particular slot, because it broke a good size piece out of the first record. You might want to put a scrub record in that slot before testing. I had to learn the hard way, but it wasn't a rare or collectable record, so wasn't a big deal. Just hate to see records get broken!

Thanks, Bill

Joe, hopefully you can view these pictures. The black pin is just above the safety switch in these two pictures (above the red mark on the switch). It needs to fit underneath the two levers on either side of the transfer arm in order to work properly.
