Hi,

I have an opportunity to purchase the following item but am looking for some background and possibly a value for it.

It would appear to be from the 50's or 60's, has an AM\FM\LW\SW stereo receiver, an automatic gear driven 3 speed turntable, a wet bar with a bottle/glass holder on a lazy susan. I have a number of photos to show. The unit is in absolutely mint condition, none of the original screws have ever been removed. The receiver says 'Phono Sonic' on it and the back of it has 'Rema arios(?)' There appears to be a letter after the 's' in arios but I didn't write it down. The rear of the unit is also marked 'Made in West Germany'. As a collector of all things unique, I was quite intrigued by this unit. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Gear driven 3-speed automatic turntable???

I know of only one company which made those: Thorens. They were from the early and mid 1950s, but they were not stereo. Nobody else made gear driven turntables.

Of course, if it is the change cycle, not the turntable, which is driven by gears, that encompasses nearly all automatic turntables. I know of only a few with no gears at all (RCA 45 changer RP-168, most Milwaukee-Erwood changers, and the Lincoln).

Record-Changer,

my mistake...it is the changer not the actual table that's gear driven. I have a good idea of the approx. age of this item but really want to find out if I should grab it at $150 CA. My feeling is that it's a steal at that price. Any thoughts?
