Reject issue : Tone arm is scratching the discs while rejecting

by Jon_Mtl » Mon Aug 10, 2015 4:27 am

Good day,

Here's a little question for you if you have a minute, and perhaps it may help others in the future :

When rejecting a disc, the tone arm of my Rock-ola 429 touches the disc. The needle scratches the disc and make that sound you do not want to hear when you care about your records ! The tone arm should certainly be elevated before moving but it is not happening.

I referred myself to the manual, I read about how to adjust the tone arm and how to adjust the reject limit but nothing on the issue.

Is it only a matter of adjusting the tone arm or is there anything I should be educated on ?

Thank you, great forum,
Jean

Jon, in this post the pic of a R-O mech shows the post that is part of the tonearm It is lifted by the ramp during a change cycle. That post can be adjusted by loosening the locknut and turning it one way, or the other.

But first check that the ramp has not been bent.

There are several clear shots of the assembly here:

To answer to one thing you said, I do not see the ramp being warped.
