Hi,

I am in the very early stages of the restoration of a Wurlitzer 1100 (with lots of work ahead of me).

I have the jukebox running (no amp yet) and it appears to be set to free play. I would prefer to have it run on coin.

This existing position of the credit wheel is set at full credit. It remains at full credit and does not reduce when a record is played.

The Coin Register Mechanism appears to be operating correctly when a record is selected, however, when the cancel mechanism activates to remove a credit, the ratchet wheel turns but then springs back to it's existing (full credit) position.

I have studied the manual and the mechanism without success, I believe that I am missing something simple.

Can anyone advise me if leaving the Coin Register Mechanism on full credit in anyway damages the jukebox? and

How can I revert the mechanism back to coin play?

I restored one for a customer a few years ago.
Did the usual "upgrades" with a P-51-3 cartridge and mods.
But the service schematics should detail all the information you'd require.

Is the P-51-3 cartridge changeover worthwhile?

Do you need to modify the amp?

The juke is on 45's play.

I never did an 1100 set to play 45's, but yes the amp needs minor modifications and for 45's the P-51-1 (1mil) stylus would be used.
Also tracking force would need to be set lighter - 5-6 grams. - assuming the tonearm can pivot freely enough.

I worked out why the juke is on free play.
Someone has removed the Key Switch (that accumulates credits on the credit wheel).
I guess it will now stay on free play for the rest of it's life (I doubt I would find a replacement anywhere).

I think you have a chance to find that switch--check with the suppliers listed above--

I tried the suppliers above, however, no luck. I'll keep looking.

I'm OK with the free play, I am just a little concerned that the coil (the relay, coin isolation) remains activated at all times.

I worry it may burn out.

Hi,

Just to finish off this thread.

I contacted Victory Glass for the parts I needed. They did not have them but referred my to MFFE who was able to supply them.
Bill shipped them to Australia and they worked as soon as I installed them.

The juke now runs well on Aussie 10 cents (similar in size to US 25 cents).
