I know that on certain jukebox models that the wrong specs on a light bulb may cause damage. If two bulbs are both 6.3 volts and one is .5CP and the other is .9CP, my question is what does the CP stand for and which bulb would be the brighter bulb?

This question involves a # 44 bulb and a #47 bulb used for the record playing bulb on a Seeburg Q jukebox, and on this model I do not not think any harm would be done by interchanging these two bulbs.

CP stands for Candle Power, which is basically a brightness amount.
Naturally, a #44 lamp will shine brighter than a #47 - both rated for 6.3 volts, but the #44 lamp uses more current in order to shine brighter.
In most applications as long as the power transformer can handle higher current draw, it is not a problem.
An #1847 lamp is a longer-lasting version of the standard #47, used in places that are "hard to change" lamps.

As Matt wrote--CP= Candle power ( brightness AND amount of heat generated !) The Seeburg Q model should have a bi-pin #12 for the selection now playing lamp. and if you are talking about the "select lamp(s)", that indicate credit(s) is available, it should be a # 55, bayonet base style lamp--NOT a 44, or 47.

Sorry about confusion. I am referring to the 2 "record playing bulbs" that are located above the record rack and in front of the popularity meter that are attached to the mech by a metal rod that extends from the mech up to the popularity meter. Please advise if these bulbs are referenced in some other manner, as I can not find that part or bulbs listed in the manuals?

I am aware of the other bulbs you mentioned and thank you for that info.

On a model Q, there is only one #12, bi pin lamp, used to show selection now playing--the window is "flipped" mechanically to show A/B sides--Ron Rich

There lies the problem. While I was working on a Q, I also was working on a B. With my great memory by the time I got to the computer I managed to type in the wrong unit My bad, sorry.
