Continental 2 amp substitution

by jukeboxrobert » Wed May 15, 2013 12:54 am

I have a Cont. 2 that amp was missing so I put a 125 watt amp from a R-89. I have everything done except for the mute sw. It looks like I need a +8 vdc. power source to unmute it. What's the best way to due this? If I'm wrong then tell me what I need.
Thanks

I don't have any of those later vinyl machines left, but may still a schematic. Question: Does it require voltage to unmute?

Earlier Rowe/AMI amps would be non muted with no voltage to the relay.

The Continental harness supplies approx 24vdc to the relay at all times other than play mode.

If the new amp unmutes with voltage applied, you simply need to make a voltage divider or perhaps just a resistor inline to drop the voltage for the new amp.

Otherwise, it will be necessary to use an additional relay to reverse the function as well as apply the lower voltage to the amp's relay.

On the R-89 the mute relay would be operated by 28 volts not 8.
