ROCK-OLA 432 GP 160 problems

Hi,

I have a 1966 GP 160. Bought it a couple years ago as a non working project. Turned out to be the record mechanism siezed due to old hardened grease. Fixed that and it have been working fine since.

The other day I played 10-15 records when it suddenly stopped to pick up the selected record.
Everything seems to work fine up until it should stop the record magazine and pick up the selected record.

Coin drops in fine and gives a credit.
Push buttons works and I can select a record.
The write-in carriage starts and flips the selector lever and then stops.
The read-out carriage, record magazine and turntable starts but they just keep on rotating forever and nothing else happends.

I have removed the selector assembly and cleaned all the contact bands and wipers but it didn't help.

Would anyone have an idea of where to start looking to solve this problem?

Hi Mats,
Try cleaning the "slip rings/ contact arm" on the read-out side of the pin bank. I would suggest using Deoxit # 5, if you can get it, as it's the only thing I have ever found that "works"--If not, try a "plastic-safe safety solvent", as it sometimes will work--I have found that MOST "contact cleaners" won't work there, for some reason ? Also--check the "sensing contact" on the read out arm, as it may have an open in the wiring--

I would also check the read out arm in case any of the contact blades are broken and that the read out arm is securely in place and making full contact with the wobble plate

Thank you both for fast replys.

I did clean the slip rings/contact arms/contact blades when i removed the selector assembly but not with Deoxit 5.
Never heard of that brand before but I found a company here in Sweden that sell Deoxit so I will get a can of it and try to clean rings and contacts again.
All the slip rings and blades looked fine, no broken ones as far as I could see.
Will also try to check for connectivity from rings to blade contacts to wiring.

Don't know when I will have the time to get to this again but I will post here how it turns out.
