I have a Rowe R87 that plays correctly and all lights are working.

I have a question about the lightinhg, are the flashing lights supposed to pulse to the beat of the music?

On some model Rowe/AMi's they used a "lite controller" that has an "option switch" on it--if set to "flashing" they should flash--I don't know what was installed in which model, nor can I tell from here, which one "someone" may have installed in yours---some do not "flash to the music", just "strobe"--. My unit has these settings: "OFF", "FLASH", "ON", and "CONTINUOUS ON". My lights do flash.

Since there is no setting for "PULSE" this unit will not flash to the beat of the music

Also, thanks for this tidbit: "it showed that "data lines "B" and "C" were used for the # 8. I know that B & C are used for the number 5 ?? After looking at the chart, my brilliant mind said--that's been wrong, all these years ?? Yep--it's wrong--"8" uses data lines "A" and "B"--"

It seems to me that when we working on our USC1 that Mark discovered this error, but thought that someone had simply miswired the unit!

If you are asking if the "Lamp Control" unit is plugged into the amp, the answer is yes it is. That connection is why I asked if the lights were supposed to pulse to the beat of the music. I see no other reason for the "Light Contol" unit to be plugged into the amp???

I think--not sure--that SOME jukeboxes, would change the pattern of the twinkle lamps if playing music--others "flash to the beat"--Sounds like the controller on yours has "gone bad"--

I agree the controler must be bad. There has to be some reason they attached that lamp controler to the amp.

Well, at least all the lights do flash.

Ifin you want it to flash--fizzit !--if not, DIS-connect it from the amp !
(Hint--clean the switch first !)

What is the part number on the sound to light controller?

It should flash on sound to light on the ON setting, there should be a cable going to the auxillary input/output and you will have to adjust the flash rate when you get in working on sound to light.

I've found those light control units to suffer from numerous bad solder joints at the connectors and at the slide switch.

A LOT of "Rowe's problems" are also caused by the "low quality" pins used in the A-MP plugs--"reforming" is a must, on most-- Ron Rich

The part # is 4-07501-02 the settings are:

Off
Flash
On
Continuous
On

When I move the switch between the bottom "On" and "Continuous" the sound varies. On the bottom "On" the lights stay on.

On the top "On" position the lights randomly flash

I am at a loss as to which "On" the lights should "Pulsate" to the beat of the music, unless instead of randomy flashing in the top position they should "Pulsate" when music is playing and only randomy flash whne no music is playing.

I think the solder joints is a good place to start.

The sound varies ?? There should be NO difference in sound, whatsoever, caused by the lights ?
If that's happening, I would strongly advise you to remove the lamp connector from the amp, as it WILL cause internal problems in the amp !!
