Magnavox

I have come across this Magnificent Magnavox console stereo. Everything works very well and looks good, even looking underneith the electronics look new and show no signs of corrosion. The tag on the back is a little hard to read but I believe the model # is 16T286R. I was wondering if anyone can give me any information on this like when it was made. Is there a market for this type of stereo and if so what would it be worth? The link below is a flickr set of pictures of this stereo.

The Model Number is 1ST286R. But you need to provide the numbers off the chassis. Sounds as if it has a separate amplifier. It may be from late 50's to early 60's.

Market for it? - not really.
Worth? - as is about 20-30 bucks.

That model isn't much different than my 1ST283 with exception of the slanted receiver and front hinges. It's a TUBE model with one chassis from around 1963, has two 10" woofers and two 5" tweeters and has an open bottom. My cartridge looks alittle weird, maybe a crystal(?), if they were still in production. It has no aux inputs/outputs. What you see is what you get...phono/radio only.

The sound is very bright and clean, considering what's in the package, and can boast some nice bass depending on position in a room. I only replaced the electrolytics because of a dead radio, but everything else worked fine. Maybe paid about $20 bucks at a thrift store a few years ago. --BB

That record changer was used from 1963 to late 1966. It is the older, more desirable one with the combo induction-synchronous motor and the ability to play odd record sizes that the later ones lacked.
