Hi All,

I recently acquired a Silvertone phonograph, a floor model. Everything is original and in pristine shape,however, the reproducer could use some work. Does anyone know by chance (I know it is hard with limited info and no photos) if Silvertone Phonograph tone arms will work with other producers (besides Edison & Pathe)? I was just curious because I would like to keep the original reproducer that came with the player completely intact the way it came, and I would like to find a reproducer that I could use to play some discs.

I have a Silvertone tabletop model that I did some maintenance on the reproducer. There must have been some rubber attachment that went on the end of the tonearm, because the reproducer opening is way too big for the tonearm. I just used electrical tape in several layers to substitute for that and then tightened the reproducer locking screw. So it's possible some other soundbox might fit on yours if you still have the attachment on the end of the tonearm. I know that my Silvertone is way too big for my Victrolas also however.
What is wrong with your reproducer now, is it not repairable at all?

Sorry for the delay in getting back, it's been crazy here and the slivertone has been on the back burner for a bit. I'm going to try and post some photos of it soon.

The reproducer plays fairly well, the rubber gasket is hardened and the reproducer is missing the thumb screw. I don't know how to restore/refurbish the reproducer and some of the prices to ship it and have it done elsewhere seem a bit expensive. I wouldn't mind doing my own refurb on it however, I don't know how to remove the old rubber gaskets around the mica and clean it up. there are no screws on the backside to open up the reproducer its completely solid cast. I just thought it would be nice to have a cleaned up 'like' new conditioned reproducer to really get some better quality sound from the phonograph.

Any info on how to refurbish the reproducer would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone knows of another reproducer that might fit the Silvertone, I'm thinking mine is in the 1920's era, its model name is "Princess" and is a tall floor model.
