Help to identify a console stereo/phonograph?

by muth3rluvx2 » Sun Apr 17, 2011 3:22 pm

Hello -

We're not collectors or anything but love antiques. We went to a resale shop last week and they had what we *think* is between a 1968-1972 Magnavox stereo cabinet in pretty good condition (walnut) & working. The sound is actually better than our modern stereo and we've been using that more than our regular one since we got it home. It's a very plain looking piece with 2 sliding top doors; on the farthest right is the record player, then the stereo, and next to that, a record bin. Over from that is just a plain flat area, which presumably is meant to be for more record storage.

I've looked *everywhere* for a model name and can't find one. I found the schematics inside along with a regional map for Magnavox, there's all kinds of stickers everywhere but nothing that gives me a name. I do have a model number: 1P3421. Its driving me crazy that there's no year on this. It would be great if we knew its value as well. There was a nicer console there for the same price but the needle was taped into the arm. This one needs a new needle but the old, broken one, had no issue with staying in place.

Anyone that can help with some information on this piece would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

Post some photos.
The Internet is a marvelous thing, however it's not a good substitute for actually being there.
