Need Advice on a Vintage Magnavox Micromatic S600

Thanks for the heads up on the Voice of Music website. I've been there but didn't pay much attention to the needles. It's been years, but I usually got mine from Radio Shack (online, avoid the store at all costs) and possibly Garage-A-Records. The "new" Radio Shack has a bunch of young idiots that try to sell you a cell phone and plan. Don't even bother to ask about caps, resistors, transistors or diodes.

I wish I could find one of those VM suitcase portables witht he automatic changers that I remember back around 1965--BB

I've been dealing with Gary Stork for phono and tape recorder parts for years now, on a regular basis.
He's a genuine gentleman and reasonable as they come.
The plethora of parts on his site is nothing less than a valuable asset to us servicers - I really don't know what I'd do without him.

I found him very reasonable, when he made an attempt to help me with a different problem--

Thanks, but he is a Phanstiel dealer, and they have discontinued all most all, of the needed jukebox types.
I also was their dealer, but quit, as the quality of the product, just kept getting worse, and worse-er !

A discussion on another site centered on Phanstiehl's quality, and I got the feeling their quality control was under fire.
It seems their QC dept was made aware, and addressed that issue, last I heard.
But nevertheless, I've never got a defective needle from Gary, and if it happens, he'll gladly send out another one, usually informing you to keep the bad one.
Gary also carries IN SOME CASES, new old stock or OEM styli, of course costing a bit more.
These are listed alng with the generic replacements.

Yes--they did, in fact "address that issue"- -they did so by offering all poor quality jukebox items at vastly reduced costs, till they ran out, at which time, they discontinued those items. Ron Rich

I am in need of some good advice. I have the S600 model and the radio works great on the unit but the turntable does not come on. I took all the tubes out and cleaned the dust off of them and they looked good as far as I know. I took the turntable out of the case and the larger wheel was stoved up. I sprayed a little WD40 on it and worked it loose but there is nothing. Could someone advise me where I might start looking for the problem. I really love this piece and would like to hear it spin some vinyl without costing me an arm and a leg.

Has anyone got a service manual for the Magnavox S600 for free.

WD40 is the worst thing to use on record changers.
Considering the lack of knowledge sensed, it would be best to locate a servicer to perform the proper overhauling.
Otherwise it can turn into a paperweight.

And, it "spins" records, which are made from vinyl.

I am concerned that there is no power going to the turntable, how can I test this?
