Collectors advice?

by Phonophan79 » Thu Apr 05, 2007 3:47 am

Greetings -

Does anyone have any advice on the best way to go about appraisals and insurance for phongraphs/gramophones?

Thanks!

Finding a certified appraiser would be the first step. And that should be easy to do thru your insurance carrier, they may well have ones that they would recommend. Just don't be surprised by the cost, a few people I know have tried to insure antiques and just about lost their minds when the total premium was given.
Listing them on your homeowners policy might require an estimate of replacement, however I have gotten around that by simply upping the contents coverage amount on my homeowners policy with no specific items listed, much cheaper that way. Good luck!
