Rock-ola 449 one last nagging issue

Hi, I'm new to the juke box hobby. I acquired my 449 last week. It did not work at all. I've managed to get through most of the mechanical and electrical issues and am enjoying it. So cool. Now only 1 real issue left (so far)...
When making an A-side selection, everything works as it should, however when the A-side hammer solenoid releases - the B-side solenoid energizes and fires the hammer. The result is both sides of the 45 end up playing. When selecting the B-side, there is no problem at all. My manuals for this box may not get here for weeks. Any ideas?

Sit down--cool off have a beer, and wait for the books--OR, get "mad", cancel your payment for the books, and re-order from one of the "legit" sellers listed above in "announcements--where to find---" You will have them in a couple of days--- Ron Rich

Everything is running 100%, even wired in a relay driven iPod connection to the amp. Excellent.
Thank you all for your wonderful ideas and help.

Now a guy can turn his eye towards beautification of the box. Original glass, but the backing material on the front piece is peeling.

Hi again,
This was my first attempt to integrate an iPod with my jukebox, I do have other plans but before I move on to further integrate-does anyone have any helpful suggestions on this? Anyone with experience doing this and have some helpful hints?
All help appreciated.
Thanks. Here is a link.

Hi Ron
Sadly been there done that syndrome

no change

as the ipod chap said I think its a feed back from "somewhere" which is causing the trouble, I "think" I've exhausted all routes without going into a major strip down which as I'm sure you understand with these machines really is to be avoided as you only end up sometimes with more faults than you started with
She's been fine for 20yrs and then did it everynow and then so I didnt worry about it, we called it a bonus track

then after 6mths it would do it all the time
The service manual is OK but isnt always the easiest to follow I've found, also the trigger happens for such a short period of time trying to locate the possible feedback loop seems to be almost impossible, I had thought it was an earthing issue at first but it doesnt appear to be

Chris,
Have you replaced that relay ?? I kinda doubt an "earthing" problem--I would first suspect the relay, then look for "hair wires" shorting, somewhere in the wire loom--

Must admit I havent actually replaced the relay, although it does seem to be ok on all accounts, and I'm not sure where I'd get another relay from TBH.
When you say "hair-wires" shorting the loom can you elaborate, as this is a term I've not heard of

Who, what, where is TBH ? I have seen various relays internally shorted--
Hair wires are formed at the junction of a crimp and the pin. Usually the insulation will have "pulled back", because some "person" pulled on the wires rather then the plug. Once this is done, single strands of the wires are likely to part from the others, and touch other wires, plugs, which causes problems. Ron Rich

Oooops sorry
TBH = To Be Honest
Thanks for the explanation of the hair wire's, not heard that before, although I've seen the results before from exactly what you say.
