RCA '7' 45 adapter

Hey, was checking out one of the late-60s model RCA Victor changers and was curious how the 7-shaped 45 adapter worked. Since its only half-there at the bottom, seems like the records could scatter after they dropped. Is that not the case?

The "7-shaped" design 45 adapter you speak of automatically centers the record on the turntable.

The rotation of the record centered it.

That adaptor design threw me off the first one I saw in a console that I bought. Basic science from back of our school days...
