Hi people my rockola has developed a problem that's driving me up the wall let me explain when you power up the box when it's been left off for a while (days) it will seem to play fine a few selections then when it stops the turn table will continue to go round then if you try to make another selection it won't play. If you pull the selector switch to the middle it stops the turntable but then if you pull it all the way out for the magazine to spin the turntable starts spinning again and the magazine doesn't move if you turn the machine off for a few hour or a day you go back to the biggining of all this it works for a few tracks so on any help or suggestions would be greatly appreatiated thanks

Stewart,
This is just a guess--
It sounds as tho a plug is not making good contact--somewhere. What I would do is allow it to fail, and check each, and every plug for heat, with my hand. CAUTION: Do NOT plug or unplug any connections with power on ! While "at-it" I would remove the computer, split it in half, and replace the battery. I normally extend wires from the batt. connector and set the battery OUTSIDE of the computer, attached to the cover, or wall of the phono, with Velcrow. These are very prone to leaking, and ruining the computer. Ron Rich

Hi I have checked the battery as I've heard there prone to leaking it does look fine but will change it are these available easily on the Internet? As for connections I have gone throughout them all the only one that looks a bit suspect is the one that goes to the keypad if you move it sometimes some of the numbers disapear then come back do you think that could be anything.... Thanks for your reply

That battery may "look good", but, they are known to develop "leaks--real fast---
I have no idea about the internet, as I purchase them from a local electronics supplier.
As much as I hate to say it--Radio Shack usually has a fresh stock of them--
As I said before, It is a VERY bad practice to "mess with" the plugs when the power is on--
I would definitely suspect that there are problems there--You do not state if you allowed "warm up time" and checked for heat, but it would be wise to clean those plugs and see what happens-- Ron Rich

Allow enough time to have it fail--then touch each and every "connector" with your hands --they should all be "cool" to the touch--If, when, you feel "heat", it is an indication of a poor connection. Edge connectors should be cleaned with a pencil erasure--nothing abrasive ! The plug itself, with a "Plastic safe safety solvent" only--and in some cases, pins may need to be removed and "re-formed", or replaced. Ron Rich

Ok so I've checked all connections for heat left it on for over half hour but none felt warm at all. the connectors on the control board I've took off and given a clean with a cleaner the guys at maplin said would be fine which brought off loads of dirt but none of it has made a difference one thing I've just noticed which I don't know when happened is when the magazine goes to resting place it's 2 records back from the centre where it should be and when you play a record it plays 2 back to the selection I'm sure this won't be helping do you know how I can move this back I've checked the manual and there's no mention of it

I've figured how to get the records aligned to the numbers once I did this it played a few tracks I cancelled a few half way through to test it then selected a few more all played fine until I moved the switch to scan for the magazine to move instead of the magazine moving the turntable starts turning then back to square one any more ideas??

Stewart,
I MIGHT , or someone MIGHT, be able to think of an answer, if we knew what you did to "align it" --but not much chance for me, at least, without knowing that !

At the back of the motor that drives the magazine under the turn table I can only describe it as a short rod because I can't see it if you twist that one way turns it forward the other back but it's been temperamental again now playing when it wants you select a track to play the turntable starts turning like it should but the magazine doesn't turn to select the track
