Q: AMP (Tyco) Brand Interconnect Crimp Connectors

I have a question. I know that Rockola uses AMP (Tyco) brand crimp connectors for the interconnect harness wiring. I believe Seeburg uses AMP too. My question is does anyone know the part numbers or just the size of the crimp connectors? I come from a Molex world, and these things *look* like .084", but I'm not 100% certain. I do know that Molex crimp connectors do not work in AMP housings. :) Any help is appreciated.

Rock,
I think they are .085----anyway, Mouser carries the (now) "TE Connectivity A-MP" "mate n lok" brand plugs/pins. HINT--I don't know if it is the branded product, or a knock-off, but there is now available a much better designed, female pin. The easy way to tell the new ones is to look at them--if they look like a "C", they are the "old style". The new style look like an "O" when viewed from the "working" end-- ( and they are much easier to hand crimp, with the 1920 tool !) Ron Rich

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. It appears (I'm not 100% until I acquire and try some) that the *stock* female (or SKT as TE calls it) is 60619-1, and the male (pin) is 60620-1. A spec. sheet from TE's site can be viewed here - http://www.te.com/commerce/DocumentDeli ... %7F60619-1. This series is specifically called the "Commercial Mate-N-Lok". There is also the "Universal" and ".140" categories.

Thanks again!

Jim,
It appears to me that this shows a different pin ? It looks like a "square" female socket ?
Perhaps we need the "universal" type ??

Ron,

Maybe this will help. Here is the 60619-1 page from TE's site - http://www.te.com/catalog/pn/en/60619-1.

Here is a PDF of all the categories - http://www.te.com/commerce/DocumentDeli ... %7F60619-1. It's a tough call by looking at the pics and different housings. The "commercial" versions use the housings with "locking wings". Not certain which style, if they are even different, are used with the "push release" housings.

I have some 60619-1's ordered, so I'll see what happens. I have a couple of sporadic connections on the power distribution and amplifier. I skirted by using .084" Molex connectors for the gripper motor (old rubber insulation was dry rotted), but there's no way I can make it work on something with more than a two pin connection. ;)

If not, I'll get some black sewing thread, and make some pretty funky necklaces. ;)

My order of 60619-1s showed up yesterday. Tried a loose one on a complimentary male in the juke, and it fits like a glove. Looking at the new ones, they are not nearly as large on the inside diameter as the installed ones. These things must have taken a heck of a beating to become that enlarged.

Just need to see if my Molex crimper will do the job, or else I'll be on the hunt for an AMP / TE crimper. I see that they come up pretty cheaply on Ebay. Need to find a decent extractor too.

Hi Jim,
What you have are the "new (and REALLY) improved version female pins. The reasons that the older ones look "enlarged" are 1. Yes they have enlarged-but 2. not as much as it appears, as they were never "fully rounded"--more like a "C" than an "O".
Hand tool --I have used a Waldom HT 1919 for years with no problems, on both A-MP and Molex pins.
Extraction tool--a real sore point with me--have purchased several of the EXPENSIVE A-MP made ones--they don't work worth a "tinkers dam". I wind up using a small piece of spring strapping steel--till it breaks (3 to 6 pins later)--then I make a new one, and make a new one------If you come up with one that works, PLEASE, please, let me know !!
