Wurlitzer 1400 problem

Over the last two weeks I restored a Wurlitzer 1400. I recapped the amplifier, checked the tubes, oiled the proper places in the mechanism and the machine turns on and plays well. Here's the problem, it continuously picks and plays random records and never stops. I checked and all the selector pins are retracted so I figure the machine should turn off until the next selection is made but it doesn't. I have cycled it through over 100 times thinking it might clear it up but it keeps on picking records. I also unplugged the coin mech and the selector buttons but the problem still persists. I have the manual for this juke and nowhere in the troubleshooting section does it talk about this and I'm not sure where to go from here.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Chris

Hi Chris,
Going from my great, but not too long memory, and including the fact that I have only seen a few pre-war WurliTzers, I seem to remember that the ones equipped with an "Electrical Selector" had a sort of "dual pricing unit" arrangement. It seems to me that the first "pricing unit" was activated by a coin, and when activated, it enabled the keyboard to make a selection. The second "pricing unit", was triggered when a selection was made, and it started the motor. It was de-activated when the record ended. That being true (if wrong, please inform me !), it would stand to reason your problem is the second switch is staying closed--for what reason ? --I dono--??
