I have my Wurlitzer 2150 in the main area of our finished basement. When I am I working out in the next room, I will often listen to the jukebox, so I find myself running back and forth a fair amount. Being lazy, I thought it might be nice to put a wall box in that room. Since my wife hates any exposed wires, I'll need a pretty circuitous route through workshop, mechanical room and storage area. So a couple of questions. What is the exact wiring requirements from the wall box to the jukebox? Is there a maximum distance? Do wall boxes come with the necessary plug so it's just a matter of splicing in wire to get the necessary length? I believe I've read that a number of wall boxes will work, including some Seeburgs. Given this, are were any specific models you recommend I get or suggest I avoid? Anything else I should consider?

I am not familiar enough with WurliTzers, to advise you. I might suggest that you look at the paper work for your model phono, as I know that Seeburg published an "accessory list" for all models, in their paper work. You will first need to determine if your machine is equipped with a "stepper", and wall-box power supply. If not, you will need to locate those items. Ron Rich

Brooks, the limiting factor in distance for a wallbox run is simply the voltage drop imposed by the gauge of the wire.

For runs less than 60 ft I use 18-3 of whatever type is cheapest (SJ usually is). The signal conductor can be a lot smaller due to it only carrying about 30 ma but since cable generally comes with conductors all of a gauge that is fine.

One location has a run of approx 140ft to the first box in a string of 7. I used 16-3 there.

Wurlitzer boxes draw slightly less than Seeburg due to fewer lights and mechanical credit cancelling so line-loss is slightly less of an issue.

As I've mentioned. Rowe-AMI use 20 ga for their Wallettes regardless of length. It works, but there is very noticeable drop when sending.

For the distances in a private home 18ga should be more than enough.

140 feet!! I am probably less than 50 feet total so it sounds lke distance will be a problem.
