With all this New Technology...

It would be neat to utilize our webcams to help others. Maybe even record a demonstration on some of the mechanical stuff (replacing a cartridge and needle, showing how to flip those levers up to lift a turntable from a unit, removing that C-clamp to see the idler wheels, adjusting height, set-down adjustments, removing that vertically-mounted receiver, etc.

I think it would be nice to have a "VIDEO" section here on the board. Folks could upload their clips to share. They may have to be screened by the Administrator for their content and length. I don't know how much space this board can accommodate, but it's just an idea. They don't have to be long, drawn-out presentations, just short and sweet. Alot of you folks can remove a cartridge in less than one minute...it may help a novice prevent unnecessary damage.

I realize that the Techs need to earn a living, but I don't think the main purpose of THIS Board is about money and professionals preying on those of us not knowledgeable on these units. Sure, you can post your wanted/for sale adds here (one man's trash), but I think the main purpose here is how many of we "common folk" want to learn, possibly simple repairs, to keep our units operating by having a little help from our internet friends.

YouTube was my thought as well. Linking to YouTube videos is standard practice on most other boards.

Great idea. Who knows what the future of this site holds for us..
