NSM Prestige II Carriage Failure

The carriage will scan from right to left and play "A" side of records. When it reaches the left end, the cap stand motor reverses (indicating the reverse switch is operating) but, the carriage will not scan left to right and just keeps bouncing off the left end. You can manually move the carriage back to the right side and then select A side of records and once again it will play the A sides until it reaches the left end where it once again just bounces instead of scanning left to right and playing the "B" side of the records. For some unknown reason, at one point it actually started reversing direction when it reached the left side and scanned left to right and also played "B" sides of records. This proper scanning lasted for about 40 records and then it once again refused to reverse direction an scan left to right.

Manual is of little value, as the trouble shooting merely states "carriage failure ", with no other information on how to remedy the problem.

Any ideas on how to resolve this problem will be appreciated.

Thank you
Darrell

If anyone else has the problem I hade, it has been resolved. Mark examined the Printed Circuit Board that rides under the carriage and did some soldering repairs and the carriage is now operating like new. A great big thank you to Mark!

Thanks
