Hi I am trying to troubleshoot a TASU1 speed control. For starters, there appears to be problem with the regulated power supply. I am getting -40 volts at test point N instead of the prescribed -22. Q751 power transistor is outputting roughly -40 volts rather than manual prescribed -24. I am also getting 145 volts ac across the oscillator output windings rather than the prescribed 89 volts. This excess output is causing heat in the wire wound 5,000 ohm resister across the output windings (R759). I am planning on replacing Q752 and power transistor Q751 to be safe. I did test them with forward and reverse polarity on leads and didn't find any direct shorts but I don't have a transistor tester tp properly test them, and something bad is definitely happening in this area. These transistors are pretty much antiques and are expensive and difficult to find. Do you know of any cheaper substitutes? 2n176 and 2n1373. Or maybe an entire voltage regulator that can be substituted. Thanks much for your time.
