Wurlitzer 2610 not registering credits

I'm new, please be gentle.
I have a Wurlitzer 2610 that needs some TLC.
When I drop coins, it only registers credits occasionally, i've tried adjusting the switch on the coin register, with inconsistent results.
Maybe someone can point me in the right direction?

Maybe you can describe a little bit more detailed.
When you insert a coin and it does not register a credit - does the coin drop into the cahbox or in the coin return cup?
Or does it get stuck in the slug rejector?

Thanks for your reply.
Quarters go right to the cash box. Nickels go to the coin return. Dimes appear to be stuck, I can retrieve them with the coin return button.

And do the quarters register but neither nickel nor dime?
If those two coins get stuck resp. rejected then no credit can be registered, Because they do not hit the right contact for registering credit.

When coins get stuck the slug rejector might need a good cleaning.
After doing so you can try at the table if all coins will go through fine.

I cannot recall if any manual described how to clean the slug rejector. Maybe somebody else knows better than me.
This would be a German description: http://www.jukebox-world.de/Forum/Archi ... ruefer.pdf

Hi Hildegard, Rob,
"Coin switches"on a phonograph are the most difficult to get "adjusted" correctly. Depending on the type, most have specs that differ for each coin, due to differences in weight of the coins. A "rule of thumb" in adjusting these is that one should place a finger under the coin switch and drop a coin in. Once the coin is "resting" on the switch, and your finger, quickly remove your finger--at that point the coin MUST fall through the switch on it's own--and make the coin switch with a minimum of 10-15 ths of an over-wipe.
Hot soapy water is suggested for washing the slug rejector--followed by a good rinse, and TOTAL drying !

Would like to add -
Since I DO have experience with mechs/rejectors - it's very unlikely you'd ever need to replace one. Give it a good cleaning and it'll work like new.
