Seeburg R - Receiver WSR7-L6 FUSTAT

by gmendo » Wed Aug 24, 2016 9:07 pm

Hi Guys, Started on my next restoration, Seeburg R. Have a question about the receiver, WSR7-L6. The (Item# F3) Fustat socket that the fuse screws into is stripped. I was thinking of just removing it and replacing it with a panel mount fuse holder that takes the more common (and less expensive) 1 1/4" AGC\SFE type glass fuses. Does anyone know of any issues with doing this ?
BTW - the 3-amp fuses are readily available and cheap in comparison. They are 250V fuses though - is that a problem ?
Thanks
Gary

Hi Gary,
Are you sure you are attempting to install a gen-U-whine, 3.2 amp, or less (down to 1.6 Amp) "Bussman Fusestat", into that socket--they seldom strip, unless the wrong one is "forced", into the socket--but other types and values will not fit--on purpose ! Unless you are using 3W-1 WallOMatics, that fuse is not required, and best left out ! Yes, you can sub the glass type fuse there, however to do so voids the UL Listing of the phonograph. The reason is UL and, the national electrical code, require a "non-tamper-able", max 3.2 amp, type be used, for any voltage run out of the phonograph. Ron Rich

Thanks Ron - who knows what the previous owner did with the Fusestat socket - the threads are definitely stripped. I just figured it would be a good time to get away from these old\expensive fuses and replace it with a panel mount glass fuse. Probably will connect a wallbox up to it when the restoration is done. So no issue with the Fusestat (125v) vs the glass fuse (250v) ? Also, this a 3 amp fast blow ?

Hi Gary,
No issue with the glass SLO BLO ( that's what a "Fusetron" is), fuse--however, if you are only going to connect 1 WOM, a 1 amp., slo blo is more then adequate. Ron Rich
