Rockola 464 turntable speed(y)

I've had turntables that were too slow but this one is too fast. Very noticeable with 45s, and even more so playing small hole little lps at 33 1/3. AC voltage measures 19.2v at the turntable plug on the power supply. There"s no grommet sag although I can't imagine that causing a too fast condition. Any ideas?

You sure about that reading ---I thought Post WW11, RockOlas used "110" volt TT motors ?

Yup. Matches supply voltage right at the wall. But I had my 460 there until the other day and never noticed fast play.

But--you wrote "19.2" above ?? Typo ??
i can't see anyway it can run fast if it is a 110-125 Volt motor ??

Oh. Yes, that's a typo. Make that 119.2v. That's what happens when I try to post with a phone instead of a computer. I have several jukeboxes in service in the house (yes, my wife is that patient) with the same voltage feed but this is the only one that plays noticeably fast. Not quite like the Chipmonks, but still too fast. Even more noticeable on the 33s, but the mechanism shifts to the proper height on the spindle. So what can I do with a turntable spinning too fast?

Patrick, check the motor pulley (the shaft that touches the puck) for a buildup of rubber from the puck.

BTW: What are your other machines that don't run fast. older R-O and Rowe did run quite fast as did Seeburg to a lesser extent.

Later 1980's R-O and Rowe were more accurate.

Rob: I'll check that out this afternoon. After discussing this with electricians here at work, I've been assured it's not likely to be the motor so I plan on taking a look as you've suggested and probably pulling several turntables and measuring spindle and idler wheel diameters to see how this one compares. I've got the speed change mechanism well oiled and it operated smoothly. As-found, this probably had not shifted in a very long time and was gummed up badly. I may go ahead and change the motor grommets while I'm looking at it just in case. As for what other machines don't appear to run fast, they're all Rockolas: 494, 463, 2 474s, 459, 3 496s, 460, and 2 490s. If they're all a bit fast, I've likely become accustomed to it. I rarely play 45s on a "regular" turntable. Where's the fun in that? But this one stands out as definitely too fast.
