Rock-Ola 449 playing issue

I recently acquired a Rock-Ola 449. It is in good playing condition or was should I say. I have been taking sections off at a time to give it good cleaning and putting them back when they were clean. Last night I removed the selector unit to get the glass panels out to clean them. Once I put everything back together, I now cannot select songs to play. I can enter the numbers but nothing happens. I have checked all the connections and fuses and everything appears to be fine. I am so mad at myself because this unit was working great before I removed the selector. Can anyone shed some light on what may be my problem?

Marty,
Impossible to guess--
If you removed it with the power on--you may have shorted something out--
If you did it with the power off, perhaps something as a stupid spacer fell out and is causing the problem.
You will either have to wait till you get a parts manual or find someone that has the same model, who is also willing to take photos for you--
Can you get the credit lamp to come on ?

The credit lamp comes on automatically. The reset lamp also works. This happens without inserting a coin. Where before a coin was required.

This isn't a criticism, but more some advice to people like me with a limited amount of experience when it comes to jukeboxes. As more people look at this board I guess than post I think it worth mentioning.
When these machines come into our possession, it's only natural to want to get them back to looking their best. But they are usually very old and once we start disturbing them, particularly to clean them, then it's easy to cause faults. Apart from removing the worst of the ravages of time, usually dirt, hardened grease in accessible places and nicotine, the thought of doing much more to mine than routine maintenance and regular use, is not something I'd tackle.
On my Rock-Ola 443, there's a couple of scratches on the dome glass, probably caused by a ring. I'd dearly love to replace it, but it would involve removing the complete front and then separate the selection panel to get at it. So I won't bother.
What stops me attempting it and a point well worth considering with some perceived defects, is that although I know the damage is "there" no one else notices it.

The credit lamp being on, would be a result of "credit(s) left in the pricing accumulator--
The "Reset" lamp being on, would indicate either a NO switch is closed, or a NC switch is open. --probably "bent" contact blades--

I continued to look at it this morning and found that when you select the first two digits of the selection it accepts them fine. On the third digit the actual selector inside (not sure of the actual name) rotates about a 1/8 of a turn. If you keep pushing the third number it will eventually make it around to the desired selection. However, this only works with the 1,2,3,4,and 0 numbers. the 5,6,7,8,9 will not move the selector at all on the third digit of the selection.

Sounds as if you have bent some contacts--wait for your book, and re-adjust them according to the manual.
Caution"--"Playing" with them can, and probably will, add to your problems !

Hi
From your last post then, it sounds like the third button is not latching in (and holding) like it should.
When you selece the second button the latch solenoid on the selection bank should pull in. This causes the third button to latch
until the write-in carriage has made its selection, by holding the third button in manually you allowing the mechanism to complete the write-in cycle.
This action is controlled by a number of leaf switches on the selection bank, it is likely that you have disturbed these in some way.
This action is all explained in the service manual.
