i recently bought two 1998 laserstar encore 100-cd jukeboxes and the one im currently working on is set to free play everything seems to work fine except for the fact that it doesnt respond to my command when i select a cd and track choice on the selector keyboard...all it does is randomly pick a cd from the cd magazine and play one random track from it, then the arm puts the cd back in its slot, picks another random cd and plays one random track from it,puts the cd back in its slot and picks another random cd from the cd magazine plays one track from it and keeps repeating this cycle continuesly....i have volume 1 of the manuals and know its probly a code thing, but cant seem to find it....can it be the play sequence for free play between random/FIFO (first in first out) what is this command anyways and how does it work?.....am really lost and could use some help...thanks a whole lot in advance eddie

Eddie,
Which version is the chip ? Is the phono set for "Free Play" with "Albums enabled (6669--I think ?) or is it set on "Auto play" ?

Did you try doing a factory reset ?

You can reset the CCC as follows; POWER switch off, SERVICE switch on, press and hold digits 0 and 1 on the keypad, turn POWER switch on, wait until Factory Defaults loaded message appears.

hi ron rich...what do mean what version is the chip?... and it was already set to freeplay when i picked it up,it says freeplay on the display, but have no idea if set to freeplay "with albums enabled" ...how do i check if albums are enabled? it just doesnt want to respond to my commands when i pick an album and track from the keyboard, it randomly picks an album on its own and selects one random track from it and repeats this cycle until i turn the jukebox off..

You need the book--has all of the info that you need to know BEFORE you default the unit.
How are you "attempting" to play it--are you saying that if you press 0101, you will get 0102, or will you get 0x01? After playing the disc, will it "rest", or just play something else (at random?). If you are attempting to play a "whole album" (0000), some versions of the chip require that it be programmed, if set to "free play". Chip version can be determined by the use of the 88 location, or (if it' still there) the "sticker" on the CCC ePROM. Ron Rich

hey ron, when i got the jukebox it was already set to freeplay and thats how i want it since its for home use..this is exactly what happens, when i turn on the jukebox it instantly grabs a random cd from the magazine and starts playing just one track from the cd and then the arm places the cd back in its slot and the magazine spins and the arm randomly picks another cd and plays just one track from it and it continues this process untill i turn off the machine....when i try to select an album and a track from the keypad it does nothing,i can see the cd selection & track selection i made on the display... the numbers show up,but then disapear and the current random cd and track number the jukebox picked pop up on the display....so in other words when the juke is playing its random cd and track it doesnt respond to the keypad when i try and select a different cd and track.......all the stickers should be in place since all four of the jukeboxes i bought were all from local ROUND TABLE PIZZAS establishments and were maintained properly...and no it never rests,it continuesly selects and plays just ONE track from each random cd it picks.... all the jukeboxes are @ my sisters house since i have no room @ my house, but will go there tomorrow and write down all the info i see on the CCC sticker & anything else i find on the inside that might help....thanks again ron

Since it was on Free Play, It may have been loaded up with selections to play.

To clear the selection memory ...

Place SERVICE switch on, enter 83 on the keypad then press Popular. Set service switch to Norm.

You should now be able to enter your selections.

What Ron means when he says "use of the 88 location"

Place SERVICE switch on, enter 88 on the keypad then press Popular.
The last 2 digits are the program version number. eg. 43 would be version 4.3

BTW, 4.3 is the lastest program version.
