Ami MMCD-3 dead spots in sound

by jukeboxrobert » Sun Jan 10, 2016 12:42 am

I have 2 AMI MMCD-3's. One plays perfect, but the other one has dead spots in the sound. I put the CD's in the good box and they play fine. I find that if I just touch the cd a little sound comes back for awhile then may stay for a song or two then same thing til I touch the cd again.
I have exchanged the following items out of the good one. Cables from computer to player, rca cables. Mech control, player, top hub, amp. I still get same results. I put the old stuff back in other box and it plays fine. Nothing is dragging on CD's.
It doesn't make sense. I am at a total loss. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Robert,
Not sure what "dead spots" are ?? How long do they last, and what part of the "CD" are you "touching" ? Which CD player are you using ?
Which version MCU chip--CCU chip ? Ron Rich

A quick follow-up. I found a poor connection. Cleaned and resoldered all the headers and seems to be working ok. I have played it steady for a few days with no problems.
