Hello - we've had this Water/Conley Phonola crank up phonograph lying around for quite some time. I decided to give it a whirl on some 78s that we also had (both were given to us). I cannot find any information on even the model or a manual for these machines - please see attachment. Any help in identifying this is appreciated.
Soundwise - the eletronics seem fine, it played the record. However, the weight/pressure of the needle/stylus actually stopped the record. I'm sure the mechanical parts underneath need some lubrication, but should there be a proper weight/balance where the needle just rests lightly on the record?
I am completely new to this, so any information at all would be helpful. I wouldn't even know where/who to take this to have it looked over!
Interesting, not sure how to attach the picture, will need help on that as well!
thank you.
